Google Keyword Tool vs SEMRush. Who shows real data on keywords?

here is a question.
Google keyword tool shows that some keyword searched for 40,000 a month,
I take a quick view with www.semrush.com for the top website for this 40K keyword
and it shows that it is searched 3K a month. It's 10 times difference.

Who is more right from your experience?
Do you think that google keyword tool shows a little bit over amount of searches
then it really is?

In my own experiences, semrush would be more accurate since it would consider data not only from Google but from other top sources. Also, the accurate match in Google Adwords Keyword tool would be the best for evaluating search on Google.

i first time heard about semrush, and visit it. i found it best in many prospects.

 

SEMrush is far more accurate in most terms but I would give a vote to Google keyword tool if you are focusing on Google optimization. SEMrush won't get inside data from Google database directly like Google does for its own keyword tool.
