Google keyword tool not accurate!

    Hi,

i was wondering if you guys know how accurate is the google keyword tool.

Like the reason i am wondering is because i looked up this "keyword" and last month it was searched over 1 mil times. I looked it up again today and it says that in february it was searched 3600 times. Like what has happened. All i could think of is that perhaps this happens with seasonal keywords but this is very much generic and searched all year along.

So i am wondering whats the deal with that:)

Any insight would be much appreciated.

It's very inaccurate and you have to take it for what it is. I actually believe the stats of the keywords at the bottom of the list (if you're sorting them by traffic ascending) more than the results they display for the heavily searched ones at the top.

I still think it's more accurate than the free Wordtracker tool, which is total garbage.

Keep in mind, this is pulling data from Adwords PPC ads, not organic search (correct me if I'm wrong?)

Make sure not to confuse broad match with exact match.

Yeah all keywords have taken a dip lately... I initially thought it was due to recession, however even words which have no impact on recession have reduced, all I can think of is that the keyword tool have got more accurate. I was seeing a lot of words getting 100k searches a month before the change but 5k after the recent changes which is a lot more accurate considering the search term.

Why were you trying to target a term with over 1 mil searches? Keep niche, still a lot of money to be had...Once you have succeeded in a small niche, become more and more competitive.

Is it that keywords are taking a dip or that all search results for that month have not been accounted for?

Yeah you are right.I noticed with other keywords as well.and to be honest it was a significant drop.like the keywords I kept my on dropped from 1mil and from 100k to couple thousands.
The reason I was looking for the 1mil was because it was a good keyword with no real competition. I will go after it anyway and see what will happen.
It's hard to believe though that it was soooo inacurate before.

if you are using different browser, it may vary. since chrome make it country specific, try ff3 or other.
