Hey friends i want to know whether the google keyword tool search volume info for a given keyword is accurate? Because it shows "not enough data" for a particular keyword but i am getting 60% of traffic from that keyword. It shows 100,000 results for a keyword. Whether i will get 100000/30 = 33333 of the traffic from google if i rank no1 for that keyword. please help guys...
My guess is based from WMT which is not very accurate or current information. I would not be surprised if Keyword tool is the same. I know what you mean, I'm ranked for a similar keyword and I get good traffic from it but G says "not enough data", OK?
Wow, I would be interested in knowing what is the most accurate keyword tool, because I am new to IM and I only use google adword tool for keyword research.
In my experience, even when I am no. 1 for a keyword I get nothing like the expected traffic predicted by the Google Keyword tool. Sometimes I try PPC for a new keyword to see if it's worth pursuing with SEO. The PPC click thrus again are nothing like the traffic quoted.
There use to be disclaimer ( when you hoover over the question mark related to search volume) saying that those numbers are from all combined affiliate networks so basically not all come from google.com search, they don't display that info anymore. As far as the search volume number goes, keep in mind that depending on type of keyword ( local , global etc) even if you number one, you still have sponsored listing and local maps to deal with, so if you get 10% of that number that would be close to reality. Example: I have a site, one of the keywords that it ranks #1, i get steady ~400 hits/mo from google.com Google tool shows 5400 searches per month, I get less then 10% of the traffic. It is local keyword phrase, so the are sponsored listings , plus 7 listing in google maps on the way to organic listings. It would be interesting to know how it relates to global search results that don't have local maps, just sponsored box.
Here is your answer. Google's keyword tool is called the Adwords tool because of that reason. Like people have been saying, they're getting plenty of traffic on keywords that have 'not enough data.' Try a keyword tool that doesn't pull from adwords.
I think the data is based on the traffic of keywords in google adwords. So I think it's much accurate than other keyword tools.
I think Google tools are just an approximation of kind of traffic you can expect for a particular keyword.
Global: For long tail keywords, the result can be close to 80%-90% with the "exact match" numbers. For very generic keywords, it can be like 20% of the "exact match" numbers showing by adwords tool. I am saying it based on examples of few keywords for which I rank (Example: generic exact: 823,000, bit long tail exact: 165,000).
Before using those keywords that you find at google keyword tool, try to digg little bit more deeper and think again, test the keyword on your own mind does internet user really search for this keyword? This is best way to use the keywords from the google keyword tool.
