I've got the number one position for a keyword that gets 30,000 searches per month according to the Keyword Suggestion Tool but my site isn't getting any hits. I have lots of other sites at the bottom of the first page and top of 2nd page for much more popular terms and those dont get near as many hits as they would if the keyword suggestion tool was actually correct. Has anybody else noticed this?
I do not think the data from Google keyword tool is fake. It has many variable involved with the number you got and you might consider them before argue about it. - Which type of data you have got? Was it broad or exact? Just the two of them could give you a huge different in searches number for the same keyword - Did you use some sense? Please be aware that some keyword is only seasonal for "news dependent" keyword. The example is "world cup 2010" have a million of search through the previous 2 months but not a single one today. - Is your website really ranked? You may found a good ranking, even a first page in Google.com but it does not mean you got a good ranking in Google.com as always. Sometime the results between Google.com searched through other country might be different compared to Google.com searched in United States themselves.
Are you looking at exact match figures, not broad or phrase? for your keyword? Are you aware that there are three different options? It would seem unlikely that you would get no hits if your exact keyword is being searched in the five figures, please post all three figures, it may help explain the situation.
I have the same problem at my site. The google adwords keyword tool suggets that keyword is being searched much more than keyword b, but the fact is that keyword b bring much more traffic than keyword a to my site.
Hi, surva8 In my own experience, Google Keyword Tool would not be so accurate even if you use its accurate mode. I would like to recommend another nice keyword tool names keyword elite. The KEI(keyword effective index) is really my favorite and helpful for targeting right keywords. all the best,
Google keyword tool is not accurate. And google gives custom search result if you are logging in with then. For example I see one of my blog post in number 1 position for a very popular search term when I search but that is not true if you search in another PC. I guess you understand what I mean. Use this tool to see if your site is actually at the top of the page http://www.scroogle.org/cgi-bin/scraper.htm
Google has so many data center and they are giving slightly different results sometimes. i am not sure if your website really rank no1. It may be because of your web history and therefore you rank on no1
It's really not fake. It's a good tool. Even if you do rank on top 1 one, it doesn't mean that you do also get the number of searches as to what google displays on that tool. You should be aware that the number of organic traffic that you could get may also vary by other factors like your title and description you created and that are displayed on the search results. If these are not enticing or have poor description, then other visitors might not click your site and would just jump to the top 2 that has a better and nice description.
i think google is sneaky and weights search terms that have adwords campaigns runnnning on them already
Signup yourself at Google Webmaster Central, and you will know how many searches were done, how many times your website appeared, and what is the CTR. It's a nice tool from Google to monitor Google traffic to your site. Hope that helps!
I wouldn't be surprised if it was a bit out of date. Not sure how far back the data is from you really never know. So probably not fake, but more likely a little out of date. How much out of date, who really knows. I would find it hard to imagine that it is in real time or anything.
Google Does not provide Accurate data for some security reason, it is in aggregate. It is a nice free tool, and a good starting point, but it is fuzzy.
I wouldn't say it's fake, maybe just not accurate ... but on the other hand, which keyword tool is accurate? all of them gives different results so I wouldn't say you can trust each one of them... for me, I don't trust them but use them for informational purposes... also, number of clicks you get to your website depends on many other factors and only number of searches doesn't mean you will get that traffic to your website if you are number one in SERPs...
First check if you've logged on to gmail or any google account before checking your result. Your search results for certain terms can vary depending on whether you're loggin in or not. Try clearing your cookies or else just use a proxy to check your rank or maybe some web-based tool. Google's keyword tool isn't pretty much accurate so you have other alternatives like wordtracker, webceo, etc...
Like what the other have said, It's not fake - it is just not accurate. That is why all results have APPROX or approximately on 'em. Also, I high search result volume for a month doesn't guarantee you traffic. They are being searched i.e. 1000 times a month BUT not all 1000 searches do click on the results NOR yours. It may also be that time of the year where people just search your keywords less. Another thing, being on the 1st page, again doesn't guarantee you instant traffic. Even the 5th, 6th or the 10th result doesn't get as MUCH traffic as the 1st and 2nd gets. That's my friend are the factors you should consider. You don't just blame the keyword tool you used just because you didn't got the traffic that you thought you'd get.
