Hello. Does anyone have real or at least approximate ratio of Google keyword competition to backlinks. For example, Google keyword tools show that an "article submitter" keyword has 27,100 Global monthly searches. How many backlinks do I need to get top ranking in search engines?
Addison, the more competitive a term is, the harder it will be to rank. And, the number of backlinks does not necessarily determine the winner--quality is more important. If you build a site with thousands of little crappy links, it may now even count against you (this use to work, but it does not any more). Plus, if someone becomes your competitor, one important link (like from CNN or some other trusted site) will topple your weak inbound links. Unfortunately, there is no magic pixie dust to sprinkle on and get to the top. You need to build consistently high inbound links to great pages using the proper anchor text to have a good shot at the top.
Thank you for your detailed reply. I am new in SEO and try to select the right promotion strategy. Your post was very helpful.
