Hi I am trying to determine if there is enough business in a niche and I am using the google adwords keyword research tool and alexa page rankings. Can anyone tell me in the keyword tool regarding the numbers of global monthly searches, what is the minimum number for a niche to be viable, setting the competitive ranking aside. And in alexa, what is a meaningful number for a site to show it is doing business? Thanks for your help. Ed.

It all depends on niche you are going to work with. Take any keyword, find a website in google by this keyword and check it's alexa rank

First thing: Ignore Alexa. It is a completely useless metric.

A more useful question to ask yourself is: Why did I pick this product / niche? How many other people are appearing in Google for this product / niche? How much would I have to sell / turnover to make this viable.
