Security has been a question with regard to cloud computing, as all the data will be stored in remote servers who know where - and all what you get to see is a web based front-end. So this uncertainty regarding our data is what we have to sacrifice for the cheap, and convenient cloud based applications. They claim they have state of the art security, best in available research. But as long as the data is outside your home, every one will be doubting its security. In regard to google, and present cloud based computing environment, everyone are getting so used to it that they forget about it.

Also another note regarding google, they already have tones of data regarding our web surfing even if we don not subscribe or use any of their services. For example, by visiting this website, google ads was able to keep a cookie in your browser and map your web preference to your IP and System, thus ensuring that you get ads that you will like the most, thus encouraging you to click them.

Many companies (SME) uses gmail for email communication, thus all their corporate secrets can be fetched from those mails. Google already have access to it.

Now one thing, one fact about Google's business is that, they have a lot of data, which they are trying to crunch and process every day and they prefer showing you ads related to it, than implementing it.
