Google Just Danced -- The Moonwalk - On My Site! Arggg..

    Hey there...

I renamed the header of my site 4 keywords with a | between them.

    Example:

Cat Food | Gourmet Cat Food | Delicious Cat Food | Homemade Cat Food

The site got ranked much better than it did before when I had it much more stuffed, example:

Great Cat food, good cat food, wonderful cat food, kitty treats, great cat food, cat food for kittens, etc etc etc.

And google indexed it almost instantly .. LIke -- within several hours.. with the new title.

But now its back to the OLD title and I am back to being listed LOW on the first search engine results page! With my new title I was up around #3 and even #2 for my key terms, but now I am back to #10.

    Any idea why this happened??

    THanks

Redspace -- yes that is what happened..

Its like they went back to their old records and used my old info and not the updated stuff.

    What the heck?

Some people having been complaining of losings serps, at least more then normal. It's possible Google is working on their algorithm and rolled back to previous search results. That's a possibility, but one that could be confirmed by someone that monitors their serps more closely then I.

If your site is new, then this is very normal, google love new content, and rank new pages and new sites higher in search results but only for few days.

To gain a stable position in search results, build lots of back links.

Google only put new sites at the top for a few days only then it will make it on a lower Rank
thank God that you are Still 10#

The site is new, yes, but its been ranking in teh top ten for maybe two months now.

I then cut back on the words in the title and it ranked even higher. I used pipes ( | ) between keywords in the title

And it SHOWED / INDEXED the title like this for about 48 hours and I got great traffic..

But now its back to the old way where I simply have the words listed and stuffed.

So what I am saying is that google saw my new title, ranked it nicely, but now I am back to the OLD title. So its like google went back in time..

    Does this make sense?

They saw my new title, indexed and ranked it, but then went back and used my old one again.

Google can take up to a couple weeks to use your new title in its search query. Getting your site indexed with the new title in only 48 hours doesn't happen, unless you have a high traffic volume already.

Understanding it would take a lot of time. Why don't you just go back to the title that was giving you better results?

I often find that with new pages and page updates they jump in and out of the Google index for a few weeks before they settle. It always seems ok after a few weeks though so I'm sure your new page will be back in soon

ETS - I had a keyword stuffed title, and then switched it to 4 of my best keywords with pipes in between. The new title (with pipes) worked great for a few days, but it has now switched back to the original title.

I do not believe I am in a worse place than I was originally, but I was in a better place after I changed the title and was indexed with the new title, briefly.

I think Homer answered my question.. Sorry I didn't explain myself well.

Just give it some time, Google has different data centers and you need to wait for all of them to pick up the new title. I knew changing that would help your website out a lot so again just give it some time.

Your articles are helping with your ranking also and you will jump around for a while anyways because your website is not that old. Every move you are making now is in the correct direction you just have to give it all time to "sink in" and let your website age/build trust with Google.

thats what usually happens with old sites with sudden change. you get a sudden boost, then goes back to nowhere for some time or lowered ranking, but it climbs back up slowly. a routine, regular content change doesnt face this issue.

and regarding the old archive, just like some others said, its due to results being pulled from different datacenter

But it sure is strange I don't see the new title on any datacenters. Oh well, I guess I better just be patient. Thats the key to all of this.
