Google is updating their search result pages

    Hi,

Over the past week I've been noticing odd changes on Google search results. The changes are not only with my websites but some of my clients' website along with other members on this forum.

You may not see any changes yourself but if you're tracking your Google referrals, you should notice your ranking is whisking from page to page. According to my logs, I'm seeing some keywords shoot from page 20 to page 2 and vice versa.

It seems they are updating their search results in some servers. I cannot get hold of any Datacentre IPs right now. It is possible they are slowly incorporating the caffeine algo to the live search.

For more proof, take a look at some recent DP threads:

why my sites removed from google the first 5 search page?
Why my site down in google
Google traffic dropped from 35K to 1K.. Is it normal?
Site ranking gone down from 2nd page to 50th page - Is it Sandbox effect
    Ranking suddenly get down!

I'm trying to get hold of the IP of these new servers. If I have any luck, I will update you guys. I'm sensing these changes will become more frequent some time during the next few weeks.

I hope your websites do well. Good Luck

    Interesting theory.

I've noticed on my long tail keywords I have been dropping. Just the opposite for more generic terms/keywords though!

I'll keep a closer eye on the rankings of my site. I wish people would publish their visibility rates on the different search engines when they refer to one dropping. It makes a bigger impact if you can show that you are dropping only on one of the search engines.

Haven't they done that a long time ago?
Google has been displaying news results / event results and such much higher for a long time now.

I agree things have been jumping quite a bit recently. When I log into google webmaster tools or any other google account the serps are often times different than when I am logged out. Which is even more confusing and something else to check logged in and logged out results.

    This was posted at WMW

"Just noticed changes on www2 sandbox, standard Google.com and Google.co.uk. The serps do not match exactly still but the changes that have occurred are the same for all three.
For one term I watch #3 has moved to #1 and the previous #1 and #2 have moved down one slot on all 3. Similar consistent across all 3 changes in other terms I watch.

It looks to me that the sandbox is live and has same index but slightly different filters. Could simply be geo-filter. Geo filter on .co.uk is not working to create a somewhat different serp as it usually does in my UK niche. It looks like .co.uk geo-filter is not being applied.

It looks like the Google engineers all came back from a good Friday lunch and one too many Coors and decided to have a play. "

    Friends,

for few months my site was ranking on 2nd page for high competitive keyword.

1 week back - The result dropped from 2nd page to 50th page. I and my SEO expert were shocked.
2 days back - The result was at 45th page
1 day back - It straight came at 16th page. During this time i moved server to Dedicated VPS.

Now i dont know what really happened.. how suddenly it went to 50th page.
And how quickly it came back to 16th page.. Is it Dedicated VPS and Dedicated IP result or is it due to google updating there listing.

Other friends, do share your results, for us all to study..

Same experience here sites that ranked #1 for their major keywords dissappearing to page 50+. On the same note other sites which had hardly any SEO done and were pretty much idle for the last year, have shot up in SERPs and seeing amazing levels of traffic... If you have enough sites you'll see both ups and downs, both displaying huge deviations.

Side with you. Google sends SERP results to you basing on the its routine crawling data, IMO. So, the SERP change could happen daily. :):)

Google dance is quite common that every webmaster observes over a period of time. There isn othing to worry and I would just focus on improving the backlinks and as well as trying to increase the PR.
