Something I am very amazed of and proud of as our state is in trouble for jobs. I thought our state would never see the day light of multi-billion $$$$ compaines open offices in Michigan. Maybe this will keep the young ones and not send them else where http://www.nytimes.com/2006/07/11/t...2f7a4b88487d6a&ei=5088&partner=rssnyt&emc=rss
Good move by Google. They could have easily opened it at any other location like India where they already have setups. But they donnt believe in cutting down costs theory too much. what is the unemployement rate in Michigan.
As far as I know we are the last state to create jobs. Sad I know but this move by Google is the first part of a massive change to come.
If Google can get the sun to shine for more than 300 days (up from current 156) and if they can get the Lions into the Super Bowl, I'll consder moving back home to right here (points to lower right part of palm). Is there any thruth to the rumor that the Michigan Wolverines will be renamed the Googlebots?
Hehe I am very suprised Google would do business here in Michigan. I dislike winter here in Michigan and always dreamed of moving to Tech City in California. I think this move would be a huge plus to people who have lost jobs in Michigan.
Hey, Visa has major operations in the Dakotas so Ann Arbor looks reasonably appealling. I think they plan on hiring a lot of young Wolverines and a few Sparties, the cost of living will justify lower salaries than the Bay Area. I suppose unemployed UAW can find some work within Google (mailroom application won't be a Mensa exam like all other jobs) and there will be other companies that spring up around Googleplex Mid-West. Somebody will have to be saying "Would you like room for cream?, "Paper or plastic?", and "Will this be pick up or delivery?" to the Googlers.
