Google is raising its PageRank worth?

Well as we know in PR updates of 2006 it became very easy to get PR5 and then time came when PR5 links were being sold for just $5 and only quality of that link was its PR number.

We also know that PR4 was considered very valuable back in 2005 and backward.

So, with recent drops in PR numbers of various sites I am of the opinion that you Google is negating that over-rating algo {or bug} in assigning PR numbers. But with a mix of a penalty to directory niche in special.

And I am not seeing it far away when again PR4 would get its lost honor and respect. :p

    What you say?

soon google will be the only PR10 site - it dropped apple.com a few weeks back, apple.com was previously a PR10 site

I sure hope so, my very popular humor site has always been a PR4. Never moved once, nor do I remember it being anything else. I'm tired of hearing on other forums\communities how PR4 is nothing.

I never buy text links, nor do I sell them. My pagerank is earned by my inbound links from other sites, go figure how that happens ;)

I really believe the death of paid text links is near, no longer will pagerank be considered into there value.

people would go for traffic and/or SERPs to buy links now lol

i have purchased before but for traffic, havent really bought a link just because of PR, not really that worth it if it cant bring you visitors

You and I both know probably 90% of text link sales are for Pagerank. I'm sure now those sites will also not be able to give weight towards SERP as well.

Its been stated by Google before that if you want to sell text links you must use the ref="nofollow" tag. SERPs will probably not be effected by filtered sites selling text links.

For the first time, I just made a bunch of link 'nofollow' (only the ones that I don't want to pass juice). It seems to be the way of the future. :|

Yes, you'll see the ref tag being used a lot more after this update I'm sure.

I also thought the same thing...

Now it will be difficult to get PR5/6/7 etc... (was easy before)

And so the value of PR5 links will increase :D

Actually, we win. Now people will have a hard time manipulating the system use to rank page popularity. I don't see how google wins or what they would be winning.

 you really hate Google's PR system huh? Well, I hope if microsoft made a PR system, I hope they will make something that will not be taken advantage of when a certain site receives such high PR.

You see, its a domino effect. A lot of sites link to each other, thats why its the world wide web. Some sites in that mix are buying and selling texts links and now losing pr weight, so its a chain effect going down the line to all the sites in the web of links.

This is a good thing, trust me.

I agree with ssandecki. That is the meaning of page rank. How big crosspoint is your site, so high pr is your site.

    Thanks,

It does suck that some sites will get hurt from this, but its just because of the domino effect from backlinks.
