First off, I'm a no0b at SEO for my site(s). It's bitter /sweet. It frustrating and rewarding at the same time. With that said, right now I am frustrated! Google is playing head games with me... I've been working hard at a long 3 word "Keyword" that I think is the best for my site. A month ago, my site was page #32 on google using these "Keywords:, a few weeks ago my site was #22. Yesterday morning it was on page #2. Last night it was on page #17. this morning it was on page #2. Now it's back on page #17. Content was getting indexed about every 3 days on my site. Lately, it's taking over 10 long days. I thought about doing a sitemap.xml and submitting this to google webmaster tools, but I've been told this is over-rated. sorry for the rant. Can anyone explain what's going on with Google these days? P.S. My site is only 6 months old. 83,000 inbound links and a PR0.
This is normal you should submit a sitemap and you should continue building back links to your site, when you have enough quality back links your site will have a more stable position in the serp.
83,000 inbound links is a lot for a site only 6 months old - it's possible that you're seeing results from different data centers; some rewarding you for your many links, others penalising for a volume of links which looks potentially artificial. For the record, I'm not accusing you of doing anything 'dodgy' on the linking front, just pointing out that so many links is not the norm for a site so new. Even if they're all 100% genuine, so many links in such a short time will arouse suspicion from the likes of Google. Personally, I would sit tight and wait - fluctuations happen but tend to settle themselves down sooner rather than later. In my experience, assuming all or at least the majority of your links are legitimate, then you'll be seeing some significant rankings in the near future. If you don't mind me asking, how have you gained so many links?
I will go with that answer too. How did you managed to get so many links in only 6 months, Have you used any automatic submission tools?
To get 82k+ back links, I just write a lot of articles and submit to link directories. Most of the link directories that I have submitted to are PR3 and higher.... Ohhh, and lots of forum postings with the link in my sig and I purchased banner space on other niche websites. ..now I'm just waiting for the page rank to update.
If you know, without doubt, that the vast majority of your links are legitimate then frankly your site has a very bright future. That is an exceptional amount of links to acquire 'naturally', so if that's the case, well done. If you know that some of these links may also be slightly tainted, or duplicated accross a small number of sites, then I'd advise caution. It's up to you.
Do you sleep? Only kidding. 82,000 natural links is definitely incredible for 6 months work. I do sort of have to wonder about the quality of the links, however, since your rankings are fluctuating so much. There could be other forces at play such as the age of your site. Keep building those links in any event, and focus on quality as opposed to quantity.
"83,000 inbound" Wow, thats great. Anyway, I suggest you keep building back links, try to get some high quality relevant back links. New site's rank change in the search results too often.
I have a 5 month old site that was doing the same, going up and down the results daily. It's stabilised in the past 2 weeks.
Wow, the Moderators gave me a 1-point *infraction* for starting this thread in the google board. The original post mentions "google" FIVE times +plus+ one time in the title. The reason why I started this thread was a question for google, not SEO.... wow, just WoW! So, anyone know what's going on with Google? When does google update the PR? why is google showing my chosen keywords on Page 2 on one PC and on page 17 on another PC? Google is all over the place for me. I wonder if something big is going to happen within google, Because I read from some posters on the "google board" that their site is acting funny within google as well. I know these are not SEO questions, sorry that the mods moved this thread to the wrong board.
Thank you wlliamjr. I actually cut back on link building for awhile. Some people here suggest that my site could get penalized. And we don't want that.
MrSandMan, That must be a lot of work. Good job on getting so many links in such a short period of time. I know its quite a tough game. If interested, I have some offers for you. Also, please see my sig for a contest that I'm running on my blog. Would you be interested in participating in that contest?
