Just for the record, maybe having a thread to compete with the other will help get rid of the other one. I keep having to look to see what the last comment is in that thread. How do we know there is an update? When the toolbar changes for hundreds of sites. When google changes the rankings for certain search results pages, this is NOT an update. If we have a forum this popular on DP, wouldn't it be nice to have links at the top showing the date of the last REAL update? Surely we have the technology to do this!
I have quit looking at those threads and am waiting for a surprise one of these days. People blow it out of porportion and I swear, some of them are sitting by there computers staring at the toolbar in hopes of change. It will come...just be patient. Also, it doesn't help when people respond to the thread with a simple, "Not this shit again" .jpg or .gif....that only starts the conversation again...I wonder how many threads there are by now when amateurs believe the PR has started updating....
I tend to ignore the updates until they are completed or at least a couple of week there after - unfortantely the Big Daddy update is still having hicups and there isnt much we can do about it. You'll notice a mad rush of posts in SEO forums from data centre addicts who seem to spend more time testing data centers than actually working on their sites, but these folks are a good source in finding out how Google is doing during an update. Usually Matt Cutts will make a post on his blog before the update which is another sign that the serps are going to start bouncing.
Yup, he surely did and explains it quite clearly what is going on. www.mattcutts.com/blog/pagerank-update-aug2006.html
No PR yet for some. Q:What does it mean? Google gets ol' Enoch (enochchoi.com/thoughts/archives/002164.html) and thinks health is a good topic to promote on the Google Co-op. But not too long afterwards, no ones biting (except of course you Shoemoney ) and Google starts messing around to see what they can do to make it better. Lets put Enoch in the DIRECTORY! Nope that didn't work either. Hmmm. Healthonnet.org spent a lot of time tagging all those links for a purpose. Lets do something with them. But first we are gonna drop their page rank and do some testing. PR zero for the hero? And test some others too. A:Its the Google Co-op.
With all the anxiety and anticipation, there should be some sort of disorder or disease named.... Like Google OCD Anyone have an idea what a good name would be?
