Google is no longer using PR!

Heh, just playing. ;) But what IF there was no page rank or any other kind of ranking system?

-There wouldn't billions of threads with noobs asking when the next PR update would be or creating false alarms for actual PR updates.

-The value of traffic a site has would be much more valued than it's PR. And I think people these days rely more on a site's PR rather than it's incoming traffic. The proof is in the link sales section. When selling links off your website, the first question to arise is what kind of PR does it have. And I see very few people requesting traffic stats first.

-Everyone would focus more on content rather than spending hundreds of dollars if not thousands just to get PR for their site. Don't get me wrong, we all know link building is a major factor towards how much traffic it receives, but people these days just spend WAY too much money. More money is probably spent through link buying rather than investing into the content alone. And when it comes right down to it, content is king.

No, page rank is not completely useless and is essential when linking to true quality sites, but it has become quite chaotic over the past couple years. Page rank is near the equivalent of welfare here in the United States. It's a system gone bad.

    Opinions?

Hmm, but there is no life without PR, if PR goes then some other alternative will arrive . for e.g : WR (web rank)

There's pr and then there's traffic. What is one without the other? I have a site with good PR that gets nowhere near the visitors as the one with low PR. Go figure.

Actually, I want to keep the pagerank. I like to have high pagerank which tells I have a bigger site and I'm better than anyone else :D, joking

If with that great google's PR more people think it's is just a crap, think what would be the reputation of might be other ranking tools that will come up.

I don't pay much attention to page rank (I used to be a complete PR addict), but these days I focus more on profit rather than anything else.. PR isn't a true indicator of that, so I don't dwell on it (of course, always nice to see it bump up a bit ;)
