I am getting tons of traffic from my blog posts as long as they're on my front page. Once they go to the second page and so on of my blog they move down in rankings. I get much less hits then. Not much of a search engine optimization person myself so I'm asking why this is and how can I fix it? As I have to do with the Google bot having to go to the next page? And does it have anything to do with how fast my page load is? I even have page number navigation to make it easy on the bot to find the different pages and posts. I also use a breadcrumb for better navigation. I have plenty of backlinks so they do good as long as they are on the front page of my blog. So if I make them a sticky so they stay on the front page it will continue to get a lot of traffic. Any help?
Work at getting links to your page 2 & 3. The problem is that your homepage link to your blogpost is the post's best link. So you need to get more link juice for your deeper pages. Ideally you would also be getting external links to each post too. Another alternative is to have links to your 10 - 15 most recent blogposts somewhere on your homepage. That would at least keep the most recent posts one click from your homepage. Or you could change the number of posts that are displayed on your homepage.
vansterdam is right and when you are building links you should try to get links from different sources you should try to get links from sites which are relevant to your content you should also build links through article marketing, social bookmarking sites, squidoo lenses, and signature links from do follow forums like dp.
nobody knows how Google exactly works man...they change things all the time and that's the reason why I think we should be less concerned about SEO...and focus on other sources as well.
