Google is going Local with Places. What effect will this have on Organic results?

 

Can you please explain more on this? what exactly do you mean?

 

What do you mean "going Local with Places"?

 

Is this anything to do with detecting locations more accurately? Because at the moment their geolocation seems wildly inaccurate unless you add the specific place name to your search.

 

I have heard the same thing, but haven't heard any details.

It means that it can detect where your IP address is located and when you start typing in a general keyword w/o a location it automatically lists the locations where your IP address is.

 

this is one of the most significant change in search algorithm google has ever made till now.
of course it will effect organic seo specially when key words you optimizing is city + k word
you have to optimize both the website and the place page on map.
only website seo or only map seo won,t going to work any more.

 

so if i was in London and how can i get good ranking on a Parisian's search result.

 

I dont't think it will be affected organic search result...
only for certain keyword affected...

 

This is a big trouble for the website who have customer from all over the world.
Now Google is showing more local results from Google base, places. there comes on top 3 website and then local result, so the sites ranking at 4th or below position is not getting traffic for that keyword. That's a matter of concern.

 

Google currently has search pages for global and for the particular countries where we are accessing google page.What is exactly going local than this,does it mean a site with pr4 in local might not hav pr in global..how this will affect organic result?Please explain me.

 

Thats what Yandex.ru, most popular Russian-based search engine did two years ago already.

 

Google is already local. They have been changing stuff with their local business platform, but it's definitely not entirely new. I think that Google places used to be called "Google local business center" or something like that.

It's a site for teaching the German language, so obviously most of the hits I get from google are from searches related to the word "Germany"

 

Thats a business model in current Internet: copy it and make your copy better ;-)

 

Not every keywords are going to have the same way. Most of major and genetic keywords are remain the same, with some "branding" integrated of course. It would effect only keywords which is related to local searchers in my opinion.
