Things appear volitile from where I am sitting. Some phrases that I can not find in the morning are there in the evening. Shannon
Today is the first time since the Jagger update started that the DP backlink tool is reporting the same as the google link: count for me. In fact, it's the first time since Oct 9th that the DP api tool reported any changes at all. I hope this is a sign of the end of the Jagger update and return to normalcy.
Shannon that is exactly what I am getting. I don't know if it is the tool or Google. I track MSN as well and had the same problem today with both..
I don't follow MSN carefully at all but keep getting The request returned the following error: Unknown Google server error which Shawn said was caused by Google's front in proxy server or some such. Shannon
This week the PR remains the same whilst the number of pages and backlinks fluctuates wildly on some of my sites. Over the past few weeks it had been the PR that jumped around, pages and backlinks remained the same. I track 49 keywords on Google via the DP tracker, everyone of them has been N/A for a couple of weeks now .
PageRank exports only happen every 3-5 months so you will not notice a Pagerank change for quite some time. The last export happened in Oct. The index will continually change.
I have seen wild fluctuations as well. It certainly makes it more fun to check your rankings and backlinks multiple times per day. You never know what you're gonna get.
wait... so your sugesting not using google sitemaps so you can see how well your site does without it? what? How are you going to know how well your site ranks for a keyword if your not in the index?
I am not quite sold on sitemaps either. I think Google is coming up with to many ways to track us..My opinion of course.
The fluxuations in my SERP rankings have subsided in the past few weeks. I'm not saying there's not a handful of keywords that come and go on a daily basis but most of them do report a fairly regular ranking position. I check them about bi-weekly now... As this "Jag" thing continues into it's what..? 10th week..? My concern is there will not be a "getting back to normal" event...
Caution: Ugly Opinion below! - read at your own risk... . . . . It seems to be that Google is establishing an annual "Fall Barrel Shake" Event. As this "Barrel Shake" has been fruitful in stimulating Adword revenues in the 4th quarter for the past 3 years, I predict 2 things. 1.) We won't see any other major shifts in the serps now til ~ Dec 20th. 2.) We will witness a similar Event again next fall - so be prepared. Caryl
It would be really bad if this is true. I am no lawyer, but it even smells of illegal. Difficult to prove unless you get a mole or rat to spill the beans.
That is an interesting thought Caryl and I have heard it before. So are you thinking there will be another major shift after the end of December? Think it will be as major as Jagger? What happened in the past around December/January with other updates?
