As long as you aren't defending the original point; that's fine. Google is too big, I agree. It gets too large a share of the search traffic. But this is purely voluntary on the part of its users. If Yahoo, MSN and others didn't suck so bad, people would use them. And, for webmasters, Google is the most friendly. If you are banned in Google, you can correct the issue (most times) and get back in. Yahoo - good luck. MSN - good luck. They do not offer second or third chances as far as I can tell. Switching ads won't do anything. People search google. Till something better rolls along, google is google.
It's not all about money believe it or not. There is a concept known as "The Social Contract." People act like it is some lost wisdom of the ancients... To be sure, these days companies like Enron and BP (whch wants to pollute more) make the idea seem quaint.
How is that related to Google concentrating on $$$$, as you said in your post. And what is exactly wrong with Google concentrating on $$$$ ?
I have to agree here. You people who hate on Google for its growth or revenue are simply envious. I'd be willing to bet everything I own that any one of you would kill to be in the financial shoes of one of the Google guys. Google is too big for my liking as far as their share of search engine traffic goes but, as was mentioned above, people use Google for a reason. You can't fault a company for being innovative and providing a quality service. You should be mad at Microsoft and Yahoo! for not trying hard enough. If they put half as much brain power into their algorithms and ranking methods as Google does then the shares of that industry would not be so lop-sided.
When you do anything to make money, you have a problem. The idea that they would cooperate with the Chinese govenment like that makes it quite believable that they would censor news stories and website in general.
Google is not a govt or Chinese rebel organization. They cant make laws of their own. If they want to provide their services in any country, they need to obey the Govt. guidelines. China is a huge market, It would be foolish for Google to not to co-operate with Chinese govt. and get the access blocked in China. It would be foolish for any business. Indian Govt. asked to lower the resolution of Google Maps of certain areas. that doesn't mean Google is censoring the data. Following Govt. guideline is one thing and Censoring information is another. If they are censoring the info on Govt. direction, you should blame the Govt. not the Google. Besides there is no proof that Google is censoring the information by it's own. The Prisoner planet article is written by someone who barely heard about SEO, and link Development and clearly has no idea how it works.
