Google is Censoring Alternative News Sites.

There are a lot of you here that don't agree with alternative news sites, which you probably refer to as "conspiracy nut" sites, but I have hard evidence which shows that Google is actively involved in online censorship. Check out the article below:

    http://www.prisonplanet.com/articles/august2007/130807_b_Google.htm

This is precisely why I'm tired of supporting Google, and don't care about Page Rank. Google is a poison to the freedom of speech and expression over the web.

that's funny. prison planet makes up something and you instantly believe it. tesla, please put your thinking cap on and stop gobbling down this crap on this stupid site.

google's algorithm is the same for all sites, every site. i'm sure the google founders (big! democrat donators) love the "neo-con" sites that get a higher "link relevance". and suppress left wing sites too. that makes a ton of sense, doesn't it?

tesla, you know enough about google to know that link: searches are inaccurate and don't show total links. right?

the www.domain.com search just shows any instance where that phrase exists. it may not actually be linked to the site at all. the www.infowars.com site shows this. amazon, youtube, etal are not links they are just text on the page. also, if a link is 'no followed' like many sites do, that's another possibility. people (like you) no doubt bring up prisonplanet on blogs through comments. so that link wouldn't be followed (comments are almost always no followed), so while that text may appear on the page, the link is invisible for all intents and purposes.

If you even took half a second you would realise that it wasn't from prison planet lorien, it was actually from another website, many articles there are sourced from all over the place, it's not like controlled media channels that you adore. ;)

You crazy gang members hardly think at all these days do you?

I did like the Urinal Target at the site source though lol. :D

Lorien, I can tell you didn't read the article. If you read it, you will understand what I mean. Google is reducing the link relevance for these sites.

Whoever wrote that article has got to be one of the stupidest "webmasters" (term used loosely) I've ever seen. And wtf is "link relevance" anyway?

Anyone who's been a webmaster for longer than, say, 3 hours, knows that google doesn't show all links coming into a site via the "link:" operator.

Most also know that when you search on a url with no other operator, you get a listing of pages that mentions that url in the the text, linked or not.

Tesla, I usually enjoy your posts as they are well thought out and usually coherent and on topic. With that being said, there is no conspiracy here. Loosen the tin foil a bit and take a deep breath.

Oh, and if you know the person who wrote the article, please explain to them how google actually works.

Google has been reducing the "link relevance" for many sites. Proving this type of conspiracy is nearly impossible. Hell, the MFA sites could claim it was a political reason they were devalued.

This is the most childish analysis of SEO I've ever read. Are you an SEO, at all?

You do understand that the link: operand returns a "random sample" of links. The search without the link operand is a search for the URL based on the text. Every frigging site online loses links when you do this.

Damn, this may be the most pathetic thing I've ever read.

Why would google censor websites that publish fairy tales, that is what a conspiracy theory is more or less.

Maybe google could put Alcatraz as the top result in the SERPs when you google for prision planet:D

I did read the article, Tesla. It's just junk. My explanation is far more plausible. Just look at prisonplanet.com's www.domain.com search and you'll see it for yourself. Put your thinking cap on. It's not difficult.

I didn't realize that. And thanks. You made another excellent point for me. If prisonplanet is reprinting content that appears on another site; google will hit that with a duplicate content filter. Which will hurt the site, across the board. If prison planet does this a lot; then its a problem with their site.

Other examples he posted do the same thing. Huffington post for example (one of the sites he references) reprints commentaries that can be found on many newspaper sites, so it probably also has a duplicate content problem, especially given that its a rather new site.

Some of the others listed, I'm sure. AGS; thanks for re-enforcing my point that its a domain problem, not a google conspiracy ;)

Whether Google is censoring prisonplanet or not, I'm getting pretty tired of them. They basically become an online monopoly, and a lot of these webmasters grovel to them like slaves. I'm going to gradually switch my ads over to other sites and start using them, because Google is just becoming an online Microsoft.

I have certain sites where I only get PSA ads, and they don't contain any nudity, but they do talk about mature content. There is no doubt that Google is blocking them, because on my other sites, even without meta tags, the PSA ads don't show.

This I agree with 110%. I no longer optimize my sites for google nor do I follow their webmaster "guidelines" or anything their propagandist mat cutts has to say. If I happen to get traffic from them, it's just a bonus. I learned a long time ago that I can't rely on any as schizophrenic as google has become.

I'm not sure why this would be happening, but it could be that there are no adwords ads that match up with your content.

Why is it the same people keep putting down others as conspiracy nuts when the American government has been caught in at least two scandals that were exposed as being a conspiracy of power to the highest levels in the land? Do none of the anti-conspiracy drones remember Nixon and Watergate/Reagan and Contragate?

When it's been proven not just once, but twice, that even the President of the United States will lie to cover their crimes (and let's not forget about Clinton and what he thinks counts as a sex act), the person that DOESN'T question their elected leaders looks more and more like the naive one!

The last time I checked (about 8 minutes ago), google wasn't a part of any governmant, much less the US government.

You're post has pretty much nothing to do with this thread.
