Google is Broken - And I think I know how...

I have written a long article about this.... Google is Broken explaining what Google's problem might be regarding the lack of relevancy, deindexing of sites and dramatic drop in search rankings of many websites. Big Daddy may be wrecking Google and Giving Yahoo, MSN and Ask a chance to knock Google from their pedestal.

    ----

Oh - Please DIGG this article for me!

Another thing I absolutely HATE about google...

if you google a piece of hardware or something by the name of the company etc you end up getting articles from 2002...

they really need to stop putting SO much weight on the age of page.

I'd disagree with this because on other subjects the age of the site/page really does add to its relevance. What Google should do is have an option that allows the user to change how the age of pages changes affects their ranking. There are times when I want the newest article, but at the same time there are times that I want to know which article came first.

Nice article but I found something even more annoying last week that has just reaered its ugly head over at Google.

Do a search for something like

    write file + PHP

Now obviously Im searching for how to write to a file using PHP. What I noticed was Google now picks up the file extensions of the pages it indexes and includes them in the results as relevent keywords.

The above example isnt too bad results wise but last week I was doing a lot of research on different things in PHP and 50% of the time I got results that had nothing to do with PHP, the pages themselves were .php files... now that is annoying!

I really think Google is trying to do too much at one time so everything is beginning to suffer.

I did this kind of searches many times and find Google quite revelant.
Do you have more explicit examples ?

There is one thing wrong with your article, the de-indexing started about 4 months ago. Just in the last week or so there was another major change where many de-indexed sites were re-indexed while others were de-indexed or went supplemental.

Google broke 4 months ago or so, and just recently they tried to fix it, but it seems they was not entirely successful.

EDIT: never mind, read the rest of the article and it's covered.

    Dugg it too.

True - but the deindexing didnt take place all at once - and as more was deindexed, more links were lost. and as more links were lost, more was deindexed... etc etc etc

Yes, it was an ongoing thing, not just a single event, but there was a big change about 4 days ago.

Yes the declines have been ongoing for months now but about 4 days ago many de-indexed sites were re-indexed, mine included, went from 300 pages to 1000+ pages (all my pages).

Google made some kind of major change a few days ago that affected a lot of sites, some for better, others for worse.

Sadly, about.com is soooo damn useless that your example hardly makes a point ;)
