I realize how much of a newbie I am, and I am pretty new to all this in all fairness so maybe someone can help me out with this because I am going insane!! I am targeting a keyword for my site for many months now I have been link building with the keyword directly in my anchor, and I have been going up in the allinanchor listing. It seems I am stuck at a certain level with my allinanchor no matter how many links I swap, now I can take this its ok I'll just keep swapping sooner or later it's going to pay off. The thing that kills is 3 days ago I shot up with my allinanchor and SERPS finally for 2 of my main keywords!! I jumped from #18 allinanchor to #4 and my SERPS I went from #55 to #9.. I was happy for about 3 days until just today Google slams me right back down again to what I was before, this has happened 3 times! It just seems to be effecting my site too not the others around me they stay static but mine is the one that went up and eventually went right back down . Please someone try and help me make sense of this if you can? I might be missing something and I need help if anyone can give me advice on this I would be grateful!
How many months? Are you using exactly the same anchor text in evey link? Are you only swapping links or is your site generating some natural links of its own? How competitive are your keywords? Could you try to rank for a slightly less competitive phrase and then build on that success? Doean´t allinanchor show what your results would be if there were no filter in place? (no doubt, I stand to be corrected here) It is not unusual for sites to jump up for a few days and then plummet again. It happens to webpages too. Perhaps you could share the domain name and let the brains here have a plough around your site. I think you need 25 posts to ask for a site review.
Well the backlinks are from a big mix of real estate, travel and directories. As it stands its only a PR 4 which confused me a bit because the last update I was expecting it to go up to 5 or so but oh well. For about 3 months or so and not exactly the same for every link, I mix it up to include some of the less important keywords too and I also add variety to the main keyword. I am trying now with less competitive keywords and I am #1 allinanchor in one of them but something like #105 in the SERPS. Don't get me wrong I did add links but not an AMAZING amount but I mean I try and track the competition and they don't seem to have as much as me but I guess their quality is better. I always thought allinanchor was the amount of links with a certain keyword pointing to your site? I'm not to sure myself hahaha thats the problem with me! I would love it if I was able to share the site because I'm sure its one of those things that might be really easy and I just didn't know about.
I see you are in Cyprus. I work from a small pond too and have gotten a couple of real estate sites ( and pages on my own site) very well ranked in the property sector. If you would like to PM me, please go ahead and I´ll be happy to throw in my tuppence worth.
Oh and if anyone is interested in helping I am open for any advice here is the link (seeing as I can post it now) www.chris-michael.com.cy Any kind of feedback on what I am doing wrong would be really great!
According to Google you have 184 links and place #46 for allinanchor for "cyprus property" (your main keyword?). You have a lot more total links than do other competitors for that keyword phrase. It looks like you may be acquiring many links with varied anchor text, which is good, BUT are pointing them all to the same page. Is that true? If so, you are just diluting the anchortext and "theme" of the page. I have found it is best to target one page with one keyword/phrase. Target another page with another keyword/phrase, etc. Caryl
Yes it is my main keyword you’re right, and yes you are also right I have been pointing more than one keyword to my main page. I have stopped this recently so all I use now is Cyprus property but slightly different each time, for example Cyprus property sale and I have reached #1 for allinanchor but I have stayed at about #98 in the SERPS for a while. But I can say the majority of my links have Cyprus property as the anchor text. Do you think I should just swap links with Cyprus property as the anchor? I don't know fully how to go about it you see. It's just for me SO disheartening adding all those links (and its painful as I am sure everyone knows) and it not paying off or not even seeing a slight hint of it paying off. My biggest mistake was I set out to add lots of links but didn't have a good idea or plan about how to go about it. And I think I speak for everyone as I am sure you’ve heard this countless times but your tools are invaluable!! They are simply amazing and I can never do without! Thanks!!
It has been my experience that anchor text does NOT need to be varied. If your target keywords are cyprus property then use ONLY that as the anchor text for that page. Caryl
ohhh ok I use to read around here people saying it should be varied, because Google might penalise. Thank you for clearing that up!
I have been running an experiment page for over a year now and it has been documented daily in this forum. 100% of the links to that page are exactly the same and 99.9% of the links come from sites that have nothing to do with the "category" of this page. The page is in position #5 in Google, #3 in Yahoo, and #3 in MSN. Caryl
