If you had built spam backlinks a couple of years ago, your site would be penalized, now it seems Google is rewarding crappy sites with crappy back links. For the last 2 years my site was ranking at 2nd position for my money keyword, but 2 weeks ago someone's small diet review site occupied this position. I checked their backlinks and found that they built a lot of links from forum spam posts. Most of these forums are even not relevant to diet/weight loss niche!! Also, I checked other pages on this site and they also rank in top 3 for hot keywords using spam forum links!! Spammers are alive....
Unfortunately the algorithms are never going to be perfect. What's created by humans is prone to human error.
Google also consider for clicks from different IPs so may be those forums using no follow for external links. In this case how can website will penalize? There can be many ways to promote website. For example you can see facebook there are lots of garbage and useful things but backlinks are not considered in SEO ..... Its only help website to get click and traffics from worldwide (different IPs).
You might need to again build your SEO strategy & don't worry if your site has more relevant & unique content then other site you will get back your ranking. I am telling you based on my experience as one my site dropped getting more then 300 visitor per day but after continues posting of relevant & unique content I got back more then 500 vistort per month from Google. I recommend you to post new content & try to spy your competitior website using SemRush SEO Tool. I liked there tools as I can call my self destroyer of my competitior seo work within one week & its cool .
you can regain you position. Build a good strategy, may be your competitor site was drive traffic through social media or no follow link as no follow links counted as direct search.
Google algorithm is always fluctuating, you may get your position back after few weeks. If you build quality backlinks, never be afraid of Google's fluctuating mood!
Don't worry those sites will crash and burn, just do what you need to do. Focus on your SEO goals and efforts, but most especially on your marketing strategies.
I have experienced the same thing. After doing lots of research, i found this solution and it worked for me. It's not about backlinks. The most important thing while creating the backlinks are the choice of anchor text and the text around the anchor text. Google check the relevancy from the same. Just try once
So? Yes, those sites will crash and burn and then, if the niche is profitable, there will be another churn and burn site, and then another and another. SEO is all about return of investment. No matter what method you are using to get it.
Please provide us with screenshots as well. They're out ranking you because they're using black hat seo methods.
That is a nice sentence and realistic but it doesn't help the guy,and it doesn't help to his optimism
Unfortunetaly,Google is retarded and it always will be no matter what, but, you just got to live with it.
I'm pretty sure your competitor is using high PR links or SAPE links. The reason why you're not seeing this is because 99% of the time, they block crawlers from showing others where they place it. These spam backlink are just for "balancing" the high PR links.
Crappy sites can rank temporarily. But usually Google algo catches up with these. If not, there's always the manual reviewer penalty. So I don't think you should be alarmed, it's temporary and it will go away.
Evantually the guy is going to drop; there is nothing you can really do other than wait it out. Not fair, I know, but thems the breaks. Regards, -Jordan
If you want to out rank him, then do this: 1: create larger pieces of worthy content. 2: Obtain legit high pr links in your niche. Sooner, or later, you will win, he will lose. Do not stoop to his level. Just do better then him....
It’s not really Google, but rather its algorithms which are computer-based, and do not always recognize crappy sites. Your best bet would be to focus most of your effort on following the guidelines set in place, to ensure that you’re doing things by the book. Your time to be rewarded will surely come.
