Although most of our sites have been increasing in their top 20 rankings in Google, all except one (it was in the top 15) dropped out of even the top 20 pages. We have seen momentary slips, but this is the most popular site on the internet for that term so its a bit weird. Now with the Google change the top 50 sites, most of these don't even have relevant titles (for the keyword) nor content, and very few backlinks containing the term. If anyone has seen anything similar, post here. Either they are playing momentarily with their algo, or they have been some bad changes. thanks
We noticed an increase in rank after validating the html and tidying up the html a bit. You can validate here. http://validator.w3.org/
Yeah I heard about that. How much was the increase in rank? I was wondering about that. Without any changes (1 day later) our site is back in the top 20....Google is funny.
I've still working on getting my page to validate completely, but you will notice that there are a lot of sites in the top 10 that don't validate and/or have a lot more errors than others.
google has been showing dancing serps for a month now (check the forum for details). Matt Cutts has denied that an update is going on, but he does say the index gets updated daily. So I guess you can just get used to dancing serps. I'd say: keep building content, keep building links and you will be fine in the end.
I had the same problem of google dancing. One week ago, my page was ranked in the 7th page, and the next day it's 11th, 2 days later back to 9th, and today it's on the 8th page.
