Ok I have a site that I have been building backlinks for for almost 3 months now and have only links from directories and related sites. The links are PR0 - PR6 and come from both link exchanges (PR0 - PR3) and one way links (PR4 - PR6) My site currently has over 600 incoming links not including forum sigs and directories. Last night I noticed that google finally updated my backlink count but much to my suprise they are only publicly showing 7 incoming links and none of those links are from any of the sites with PR except for one PR4 page. Needless to say this has not helped my sites PR which was predicted through every future pagerank prediction tool I could find to move from its current PR0 to a PR5......but with google being stingy on the backlink count my site is still a PR0
You need to keep going. Google doesn't like all directories, and definately does not like all link exchanges. My guess is that the majorty of your links come from these places. But keep building anyway. It is also possible that Google has not found the backlinks yet. If this is the case, they will eventually be found and the benefit may still be waiting for you then.
well most of my links are at least a month old except for a recent 2 and from what i recall I did 200 directory submissions, bought 3 one way links on good PR sites, have around 100 or so 1 one way links, over 200 forum links, and around 150 links on myspace profiles, then the rest are reciprocal links.
For one thing, doing a Google backlink check is useless, move one. Second, it sounds like you are building a completely bogus looking link profile. You will never get anywhere doing that. Read 100% of this site http://www.jimboykin.com/ Then read http://www.webmasterworld.com/supporters/3144316.htm Stop building links and start building content that people would want to link to and start networking.
Nod. I would agree that content is a better solution, but PR can be obtained by steady link building. Thing is, if you have a site worth visiting, you won't have to work as hard to get that rank up because people will use Digg and furl to keep track. Do you have an RSS feed for your content to make it easier for visitors?
Google does not seem to show an accurate number of backlinks when you use its tool. You can try using Yahoo! Site Explorer.
Yea I know google does not care for paid links that is why they were bought under the radar and not from any service or placed in any section that would make them look like paid links.....Also I have built 3 other of the same types of sites used the exact same method I am doing now and those sites have been pretty successful its just this one site that does not want to budge.....
PR has not updated since July so even if you have a million links in the last few months its not going to make any difference.
as far as chencking backlink is concerned yahoo is much better than google.....google has also a time delay factor for the backlink updates...and one more thing.....even though all the back links are not shown in google, google knows about the backlink existence......so u should idealy carry on and try to get more authority links.....
Yea I know google has not updated PR since July.....does anyone know when the next PR update should be I thought it would be in October......
