Hi guys, As we have noticed the change in Google today. Google Instant has started. I was wondering will this affect Adwords impression count and perfect keyword impressions analysis in search results ? I want to have feedback for this. Thanks
In my view it will, unless they have a grace period of a couple of seconds, during which the impressions will not count.
By the way, I've just noticed. If you found what you were looking for with Google instant, there's a little "settle down" effect - when enough time went by (I'd say about 0.5 - 1 second) and all ads were loaded. Check it out.
Here's a helpful link: adwords.blogspot.com/2010/09/google-instant-more-innovative-approach.html First couple of paragraphs after the examples is where it talks about the 3 seconds and a couple of other things.
They say that if a user clicks away from the search query then in considers as an impression and if a user stays on the site for more than 3 seconds it as well is an impression. I find it to be so stupid because what if the user has to go to the washroom or grab a bite to eat.
Yeah, that happens to me all the time. I'm one second into typing my query and I suddenly have to go potty or have hunger pangs and stop in the middle of my search.
I think showing ads while typing the keyword may create performance issue and will increase use of the internet usage. So, I think Google may not concentrate on showing ads while typing the keywords.
I think the guys in Google will need to fix this because as you guys said this 3 seconds settle-down time is not a guarantee and you will probably get untargeted impressions that will have a negative impact on your CTR
