    Hi all,

I have been trying to get google to index my website for around 3 weeks and I am having no joy. When I check my index status in google webmaster it is telling me I have 4 pages not selected; could some1 kindly explain this to me and maybe the reasons why google is not selecting my pages?

    Thanks,
    dissingtonwalker

Like the above poster said, a sitemap will help to an extent.

Sometimes, it's simply a waiting game. Continue to update your site with quality content and you should be fine.

Also, something that is very important is to not rely on Google, or any other search engine, as your primary source of traffic. It is often not the most highly targeted and high quality traffic that you could be getting. Search engines are also very unpredictable, as shown by Google in its recent updates. Search engine traffic is very good, but it's in your best interest to not put all of your effort into getting more search engine traffic when you could be building a much more predictable and scalable traffic stream.

Start doing some article marketing and guest posting on other sites in your niche so that you can get some eyeballs on your content, and then focus on building an email list. I think this will be the best approach for you in the long run.

    Hope this helps.

    Jake

Here is step-by-step instructions what you should do to index your website by Google quickly and legaly. First login to your webmaster tool -> choose newly created website -> under Dashboard click Health -> Fetch as Google -> click fetch -> then click to submit to index (next to success status). You will have two choices: 1) URl (Select if your page is new or has been recently updated. Google doesn't guarantee to index all submitted URLs.) and 2) URL and all linked pages (Select if your site has changed significantly. Google will use this URL as a starting point in indexing your site content. Google doesn't guarantee to index all pages on your site.). I recently created a website myself used option 2 when a website was 3 days old and (no kidding) the next day my website was indexed by Google and all!!! webpages

Just wait for some days and update your site continuously. google will automatically start to index your page. Google as a search engine never want to loose good site information in their indexing.

Check to be sure your sitemap has been uploaded. You may also want to submit your pages to some of the ping services as well.

My SiteMap.xml is definately on the server however I only uploaded an up-to-date SiteMap upto 48hours ago so it is quite possible google hasn't crawled since, the stats on the above image have been static for probably a 3-4 days and I have updated the website extensively since...

You should maintain some common architecture of your website. First thing you need to setup your sitemap, an XML sitemap will be best for you always. Then the privacy policy and finally the about us page. All these are very important for a complete site. So, just be careful on all of these. The next thing you need to do to use google webmaster tool to add your site there. Interlink your internal pages to one another as much as possible, as perfectly as possible. Create and promote fresh content always.

Traffic comes from optimized keywords so you have to optimize keywords for getting traffic, just indexing may not give traffic.

If it's already 3 weeks sometimes it might just be the domain that has been deindexed in the past before.

You might want to check into that and if it is deindexed you might want to get a new domain.

    Hope this helped! :)

Use "Fetch as Google" in Webmaster Tools, it's very quick way to get your domain and links to be indexed

It is not guaranteed that all the pages of your site would be indexed in Google,if your any page is not indexed then it may be any issue, you should refer to Google webmaster tool guidelines for more information.

Googel webmasters does show me crawling stats that it has downloaded some data. and it shows pages crawled per day but when i look at index status, it shows me a big 0, there is also written that it's showing data from last year. Can i do anything about it ?
