I have noticed that my twitter account is readily indexed by Google. What I have been doing is manually tweeting blog post links and article links to my Twitter account as well as hints, tips and the like to keep it real and IMO Google is following all of this stuff. I am starting to form the opinion that Twitter may be labeled as "no-follow" but Google seems to be treating is as though it gives authority to these links. Opinions? Comments? Confirmations?
The nofollow does not remove the link. The words remain strong link to the time that Google decides what goes on page
My view is that if they view it as important as determined by their algo that you have huge followers and your tweets are informative, then they will index it.
They'll index it regardless if you have good tweets or a large following, Google posted this on the blogs months ago about the live searches. Check out the google blog for more info.
I'm thinking no because the keywords in the link are scrambled into jibberish. Just my opinion. Take it with a grain of salt. All of my links that have been indexed were static links. I haven't seen any shortened ones. BUT, the ones where I manually types out SEO friendly static links are appearing in my searches. It is looking like a fairly fast way to get individual pages indexed...aside from using a sitemap, of course.
Google index anything without checking link type but in case of backlinks these nofollow have almost no value.
I think you may already know that every new tweets will being front page on Twitter.com for a while. That's why your Twitter account has been indexed and cached by Google. However, even all links from Twitter will be attached with "nofollow" but I think it is still important anyway. This is not because of these links are come from Twitter, which is considered some authoritative status by Google but also this - Google will still follow that "nofollow" links anyway. They do just to see where is the link leading to purpose only. Even Google does not give any PR and link power leakage to the link but they still acknowledge about your new content at least.
I agree they dont seem to give the link any weight, but are still following them, either way good publicity !
no it doesn't you must follow the "toptwitter" account to get those updates to show, but they go by so fast, this isn't the reason everyone updates are getting indexed
There is a huge difference between indexing tweets and counting, seeing or passing PR to the urls in them. You cannot say they are nofollow and in the same breath say google counts them. They are valuable, in their own right, but only as far as your twitter accounts are. Stephen C
Its not that new to me mate. After knowing that Google do credits no follows link especially if it is a High Quality site like twitter and Facebook.
