Google indexing proxified pages = duplicate content?

I've noticed it more and more, Google is indexing proxified copies of pages. Can this lead to penalization due to duplicate content in some way? Kinda sad if it can since there is absolutely nothing you can do about people posting proxified links to your site somewhere.

Asking since I've got two sites penalized with what some call -60 (or so) penalty, and for both sites Google have indexed tons of proxified pages.

Personally I think those penalties are a myth....There is nothing you can do about proxy pages being indexed....and I'm sure Google already knows about this and is already compensating for it....

Can't be, would be too much of a coincidence with so many sites getting pushed back from their original positions exactly 30 or 60 or whatever number for every keyword the site ranked for, including searches for the domain name itself. Like two of my sites right now, zoodu.com and corrsonline.com.
