I've noticed in the last six to eight weeks that Googlet has started indexing javascript popup windows. I'm managing a site with hundreds of products and all of the product photo popups have been indexed. For once the page count is significantly larger than Yahoos. I'm wondering what kind of effect this might have on the SERPS. It's not exactly good content (just photos). There seemed to be a drop in our rankings right around the same time (although not across the board, just for our primary keywords). Anyone else seeing this?
I've got a lot of javapopups that still aren't indexed, maybe you just got un/lucky? What's the site, just so I can see if there's a difference in the code.
Thanks for the link Shawn. Was there any concensus on the best way to block spiders from accessing javascript popups? You mentioned doing it in the robots.txt. I'll have to double check and see if this will work for us, or if our site uses includes.
