Plz tell me the reason why my site's indexing is down.i m observing an other thing that when I search any of my targeted keywords in Google then the url which appear in serps is sometime appear without "www" and sometime with "www".I m puzzled.............
If you using 'site:www.xxx.com' to get the page indexed count by google, I think Its not really true. It changed everyday.
Hi, 1. Generally speaking, Google would only keep the pages with original contents in its database and would drop duplicated pages according to its own algorithm. 2. I think you might pick up one form of your domain name and 301 redirecting the other form to the in-used one. all the best,

What is your site URL? How old is your site? Has the Traffic from Google Decreased too? To solve the problem of URLs appearing with or without www prefix, use the Preferred Domain Option in GWMTs and like the other member said, use 301 redirect for redirecting the non preferred version of URLs to the preferred one:
First - The fluctuate in Google indexed pages is pretty common. It is depends on a number of links to both homepage and inner pages. The high number of links to homepage should help inner pages indexed well if you have a proper internal linking structure. Second - You should have only one version of a website, www or non-www. You can do 301 redirect to solve this problem. This tutorial from Stepforth.com can help you.
If you say site: does not provide accurate indexing then which is the best way to know exact indexed pages.
use site:domain.com domain for search btw, google always do this, index then remove then index again then remove again...
