Google Index Delay

Discussion in 'Google' started by sezerb, Mar 6, 2010.

For a week now Google is not indexing new posts on my wordpress blog. Before this new posts were appearing in a matter of minutes. I've read around and many people are experiencing the same thing. They call it the 7 day delay where it takes 7 days for Google to list the new page/post in the SERPs. Is anyone else experiencing this and if so do you have any idea why it is happening?

Are you using SEO plugins? Try to get rid of them!

It seems that a lot of sites are experiencing the (exact) 7-days delay index problem nowadays.
Some people say SEO plugins (e.g. All in one SEO for WP)are causing this issue.

Already tried to disable all your SEO plugins and then check again?

As just a side note. I noticed my published articles are now taking a few days to show up on Google, it used to take only a day... tops. I think its a Google Caffeine thing, the changes seem to be suspiciously simultaneous.

Static sites are also affected so I don't think it's a problem with a Wordpress plug-in.

If you want your site to be indexed fast you must build a sitemap and do social bookmarking.

I do all that and new pages were being indexed literally within 5 minutes. But after 25th February pages started taking 7 days to appear in Google's index and get traffic.

I believe Caffeine related too. Think they are slowing down new indexing ready for a changeover to new DCs perhaps?

I was thinking the same thing murph. Just trying to work out whether it is caffeine related or a penalty for some reason.

I've noticed a slow down of adding pages for some of my key sites. Noticable. It's like a general pause in adding to their index. I'm just making conclusion about Caffeine as i heard it was imminent

It's definately a Google Caffeine data center issue.. If you are able to log in another computer in another city/proxy that still pulls non caffeine results, you'll see there isn't a problem.. I have plenty of backlinks (even Digg, Mixx social bookmarks/media) and the new datacenters are taking more than a month now to index anything beyond the homepages.
