though google.cn won't come back , but I think it is the google one tip :

firstly , google.cn can't beat the "baidu " search engine which comes from China ,many users use it , though google.cn invest much money and do much work , but it seems that Baidu is more and more strong than before , and google.cn lose the market area

second ,though google.cn has disppeared , but I find one amazed thing , google put lots of Chinese words advertisement at other foreign website , such as open one account ,you can get how much money , because Chinese network is growing very fast ,and many chinese websites and english websites are born every day , so it bring lots of webmasers , google won't give up the adwords and adsense and so on , in my opinion ,google play one small tips , if google don't like China ,it won't put its serve in Hongkong , Hongkong is of small population .

with one word: google love China market ,but google hate Chinese strict government , but for money ,google have to stay in Hongkong

What are you trying to say really? Every internaional companies would want to stay in the very large market size like China. But I bet no one could stand on with the reckless rules announced by Chinese Government. This is not a Google totally fault and they can find ways to sustained for the lost money by invested in China.

I have no negative attitude to your country, China, since the half of my blood is also Chinese. I also have many Chinese good friends either. However, I do disagree on the new specific rules announced by Chinese Government. That is a kind of "Racism" and "Anti US Company" type. They had announced the rules that they already know it won't be agreed by these companies.

I do believe Chinese could stay strong by their own legs without any investment from international companies. Even saying that, I do not think this is a good manner for improve relationship between China and other ones for ecnomomic corporal. I did not say for specific country but if US can be treated like this, needless to say for the others. :)

yes , thanks for your sharing ,but as I know ,google search engine in China can cover 33% of chinese internet search area , so in my opinion for one businessman ,it won't leave big market for money .

like investment ,one company invest other country , it must follow the foreign rule , like China company invest USA , the chinese company must obey the USA rule , as google go into the china market and promise the Chinese rule . google must follow its promise , many of chinese people like google ,because it has many advantages than baidu , baidu can obey the governement rule ,why google can't obey ? for Chinese governemt ,many unknown people think chinese government is foolish and so on , but for one country ,especial for China ,we need good company and good investment , it will bring both win ,if the government let you come into Chinese market and then let you go out the chinese market , if like this , it reduce one country investment area . so all of you should consider the really reason .for google , though it can't beat baidu , but at least it can earn money in chinese market , for chinese government , in China ,there are many foreign company ,why Chinese government ignore google ?google can employ many workers in China and bring many new investment .and google says that its website is attacked by unknown strength , who attack ? who will get the profit ? so we must know the really reason and consider the question. not chinese government fault ,not google fault ,we are only waiting for the new results .

Google is not leaving China. Hong Kong is in China, and there are other provinces
like Hong Kong in China as well where google can readily be gotten.

It is not hard to get around China's censorship. If the Chinese really want to, and
many do, it is done all the time.

So any thread here saying google is leaving China is not true. We won't even mention
    Taiwan.

Just yesterday I read how google has mobile search in China and the results are
uncensored. So, when in China, use a smartphone. No censorship. Yet. In fact, if
you use a Hong Kong server, no censorhip anyway.

So it really boils down to China and google both making political statements that
don't mean much in the real world of a global internet.

All internaional companies (such as Microsoft, Apple, IBM, etc) want to stay in China because it is really a very large market and full of big potential to make much money. However, when facing more and more serious search engine censorship, Google doesn't want to insist on it. So, they decide to close Google.cn, which is the cost of freedom.
Although the users can use Google.com.hk, both Google.cn and G.cn have been closed indeed.

Google is the biggest search engine and even the chinese realize this. Google will continue to grow and will have a presence in china in the future.

This censorship thing will not last, eventually the people will get what they want.

In my own experiences, Google needs big China Market. And, China also needs Google to have a healthy environment of competition on Internet. :)

    Thanks,

    That's true....

Leaving China means leaving Millions of daily visitors, who on earth want that. But if you look in deep (Google some NY Paper) you will find out a Huge list of censored content and regular warnings and notices issued to Google from Chinese Govt in last few years. A regular pressure and a series of attacks has made them move out.

The google haven't still left the China. Now you input the www.google.cn in the brower, it will come to the google.com.hk. So the google still don't leave the China.

Millions visitors and few buyers. it's all about converting visitors to buyers and with China the ratio is small so i'm assuming China is not that big market.

First its not so difficult to get through the firewall if you are using any paid vpn services, as there are very less free services available right now. Second, I guess thatz just one back step google has taken to check if the same back step is taken from the chinese government too. Maybe they be there in HK for the next 6 or 8 months and if there are not many users, google might leave China completely. However the google.com (the search engine) is still working, which is a sign that chinese government has not banned google completely.

I hope in the next 6 months they might come up with some mutual agreement among themselves, which is actually good for both of them AND for us - the end users.

Google probably won't ever return to China.
They are doing good while serving Chinese people from Hong Kong
