Most likely it's a holiday* trend related to that keyword.

    * maybe not a holiday, but the "holiday effect". At the end of every month, traffic drops like 30% for one of my sites, consistently. It's for the same reason that Christmas sites get more traffic around Christmas, although often the reasons are more mysterious.

All of my main sites did sort of the same thing, then disappeared, then reappeared exactly where they were before...I don't get it.

Well be happy that you increase traffic from google but don't be too confident that you will always get that higher traffic.

Yea, I got good traffic when the Clint Eastwood Iwo Jima movies were up for Oscar contention, just because I had a photo on my site. Could easily be something like that.

I just got a 2 week old website to #3 out of 43.3 million results for a single common english word.

The only 2 pages beating me are both from whitehouse.gov and they are PR7, so yes traffic has increased for this one but i know whats causing it.

The other dozen or so sites in various niches are just normal gains attributes to SEO and not to Google's funny ways.

Google had a major overhaul in the way Supplemental results are handled.

I am not sure why, but there is not much publicity on the issue.

People might not be tracking their supplementals.

You most likely had your supplemental pages move up to a main index. This is the most likely cause for your traffic increase.

Moreover. It seems the shuffle is far from over and if you have SEOed your site well you will see further increase in traffic.

Yeah. Some of the people here see huge increases, some see decreases, and for the rest of us, nothing has changed... traffic patterns can be really odd, this is probably one of those cases.

I think Google is changing Algo --so from now on SEO techniques will be different. Most probably your site does well with the new Algo --be happy with that and congrats --keep working the way you have been and you will see more smiles:D

Traffic from Google is reducing steeply for me. I'm really worried about it :(
