We all know Google will eventually be able to search for everything. This is where they'll be in 2084.
Google should be able to integrate multimedia into its search, meaning you upload a sound, it is able to search for that sound track and part of a picture it is able to find the movie and so on. I think it will also move into Digital TV and control the Internet and Media alike.
If I was Google, I would always be trying to control everything the internet has to offer!!!! Instead of letting new advertising companies join the competition and stuff... maybe controlling the internet isn't what they want...
Technology can be a huge leveling field, Google was nothing when it started, but because it has better technology and vision it succeeded. There is nothing preventing another Google with better technology and greater vision to secure the necessary funding and beat Google at its own games. MPEG 7 search will be interesting till now the search for multimedia is still based on the old text search engine algorithms.
So... what greater vision and technology are you talking about??? Are you going to take over google soon?? or are you just dreaming???
hehe,, that's really funny dawg. . you think we're still alive when that happens? i know, i know. . it's a big joke. .
I believe that the future of the internet is pretty much involved into the end of the era of the web-sites. Or in other terms, the end of static content websites and static media. IMO technology will evolve in such way that it will be an interactive mixture of sound, video and information all in one channel. Basically what we are doing here today...developing our own sites is something similar to what people were have been doing from approximately 1000 bc til 1900...focusing on writing static content in books. For the last century and moreover, the last 4 decades humanity has been shifting from that same static content into the development of interactive drawn content... as in TV......radios.....etc...without matter if analog or digital. The whole concept is shifting. So basically in 2084 I have good reasons to believe that web will be practically dead or atleast websites will be dead...and we will be sucking huge chunks of information from one mixed interactive channel of digital picture and sound...... Flash is a good example for this theory. Flash is a product which could replace the html and php with all their flaws... (e.g. debugging one thing in IE and then Firefox ...and then safari..) ...(sorry if this was stupid)
Possible that would happen. IMO, I'm expecting a better Google design with bright colors not the typical B&W.
