How often does the Google bot index sites for images? I heard it was only once every six months, is that true?
I never paid much attention...but it can't be once every six months....millions of new photos are added to the web everyday
Yeah, no way every 6 months. The only problem i've ever had is that some of my sites are years old with plenty of images, and Google hasn't added them to images. Don't know why, but to be honest I'm not *that* bothered.
If you have a Google account, click on Webmaster Tools. Add your website. Then you can ask Google to perform an "enhanced image search" - which should help any site that is largely graphical in content.
I have a photo gallery in my site. Everyday I update that page. All the images are cached by the google till now. So I think google bot cache images every week.
It doesn't take that long, mine updates every day, get quite a few for my blog. Check your cPanle they show a list of when the bots visited you.
Maybe we are confusing how often images are indexed with how often Google Images results are updated for position.
never ever seen it on my sites. I have however noticed some of my stolen graphics appearing in image search on other sites. I only use about 5 images tops for an entire website so its no big deal for me.
I don't want Google Images indexing my site! People only steal and hotlink images anyway to use in forums etc.
I imagine they index new images very regularly. Updating the search results, though - apparently it's only once every several months. Hopefully this changes in the near future.
I added a new photo gallery in April and am just now seeing some of my images in the image SERPs. Currently only the thumbnail images are showing up in the SERPs, but I imagine the full-sized images will appear once Google indexes my site a little deeper. My log files indicate that the image bot comes around once per month or so.
