You can use the alt="text here" tag, this is used for text only browsers that can't view images, but it is believed that google uses this text to descript a picture.

If you have a Webmasters account with Google and have submitted your sites, you can select for them to be active with Google Image search.

Do your images have individual / unique alt tags ??
Or are all the alt tags the same ??

I really wouldn't know what else to say, I have a funny pictures website and almost all my images are indexed with just these methods. Sometimes you just have to wait and let it naturally happen.

there is no "alt tags"...no such tag exist in HTML. alt is an attribute of <img> tag. its better to say alt text than alt tag.

putting an alt text to your images might solve your problem. with this, now bots can read your images.

That is correct statement, just my choice of bad wording. Thanks for the correction.

You should put alt in every pictures you have in your site. This will be the very basic way of making your pictures available for index by most search engines.

i have this one site i never used any alt tags for my images, and yet google placed me on page one of images, so i dont think alt tags have anything to do with it, i might be wrong

It is one of many methods most likely used to do it, no one really knows for sure.

    1.
you get similar pics SERPS than content SERPS - if your page is out of top 20-30 then most likely you have NO image results as well unless most or all above your SERPS have NO pics on their sites

    2.
OF COURSE all pics need alt tag AND pics description NRAR ( dirctly above or below image )

    3.

    google.com/webmasters/tools/sitetools
    > tools > Enable enhanced image search !

then also participate in Google's rather new
    "image labeler program"
its fun and helps you to better label your pics for popular commonly used keywords - see
    http://images.google.com/imagelabeler/

does image traffic convert into real traffic / real adsense $ ?
    YES
I have some 10'000 pics on my content site - wallpapers, lovecards, documentary etc ane enjoy a beautiful CTR/eCPM across all sections/channels
