There are two pictures in Google Image search, which i really need to be removed from the search, I have deleted the files... but I am told that the thumbnail stays in the search for a long time...

how long does it take to drop the picture?

Is there anything I can do? would a robots text be needed?

Just delete the source... it will fall off of the cache faster than you think. Not to mention, it will only be seen as a small small thumbnail.

What, did you post a nude image of yourself and now you want to remove it? LOL

you can add a line to your robots.txt file as well to help speed things up

    Thanks, I hope so

One of my friends was partying with some Thai girls... and he would rather not have his girlfriend take a look!

Internet is like a virus. I think your image have already copied by many fellows and would have published in their sites.
So, better tell your friend's g/f before itself.. :D

This is true how fast the internet can find out about content. However once you delete the image, it at least stops others from finding it easily through a search. Best of luck!

Use the following in your Robots.txt

    User-agent: *
    Disallow: /images/
    Disallow: /your image folder/

    User-agent: Googlebot-Image
    Disallow: /

Yea... unfortunately he is right. If someone who you may know saw the image already then you can forget about "cleaning" it up. Internet is so viral now days. May want to monitor your friends twitter and facebook posts just to look out for that photo!

you also need to ask google to exclude the links from the index. you can do that on your webmaster tools account.

There's two categories fo bots for Google, the web search bot and the imagebot. You specifically need to create a robots.txt that looks like this and place it in your root directory.

    User-agent: Googlebot-Image
    Disallow: /path/to/your/image/from/root/image-name-goes-here.jpg

You can report this matter for removal to Google, but it takes a very long time to investigate (they wrote it takes 6 months :D )

    https://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/removals?hl=en
    Code (markup):
Few months ago I had same problem with you. A girl asking to remove some images from Google images and adult forums. I found the image hosted on imageshack. I contacted imageshack and their removed it so fast (not more than an hour).
