it is actually possible. i tried it and people who are searching for images can just grab the image without going to the site since theres even an option to enlarge it before going to the site itself.

As you surely know google image search is almost as popular as the main technology, but in the past it lost some important users..
The modification is based on Mozilla firefox extension..if you do'nt have the browser then download it..

As we all know by now Google is not the webmasters best friend anymore or even the users, so here the points:

1.with this ALL sites with images will be hurt BIG TIME when we talking visits/earnings
2.Google once again steals content from other sites
    3.This is not legal
4.when you have a site focused on images you are doomed, start a new bizz
5.Photo sites are mostly free be cause they get there earnings from CPM banners to pay there bandwidth, that is not possible anymore.

I will recommend ALL webmasters to ban Google from spidering your images and on you site Promote Bing, Yahoo or ask to get the word out, that users learn about other image search engines, that still also show your pages related to image.

I think many here underestimate the impact this will have on there sites, even if its not a photo site. There visits will go down.

I like it is way more futuristic... but isn't that image only for Crome Explorer? Is google applying that image for other products?

Geek you mean it only shown like that when you use chrom, I dont think so, that it has anything to do with the browser, but im not sure.

To those who say it looks good, yes it do look ok, nothing wild, but think about the websites that offer those images they get hit big time.

I can't wait to try it out.. Right now, Google Images sucks, and I use Bing for most of my image searches - WAY more versatile!

I dont think you get the point here, google is stealing pictures from other sites, those sites dont get the impressions from google image search anymore if this goes worldwide, I think thats a more important issue then a new gadget.

Another thing google image is the best image search out there, since they have fixed there filter for images, also the layout is perfect good view of images, nothing fancy bling bling just cool clean search.

Gotcha, I must have missed that part. But can't webmasters prevent Google from displaying their pictures outside of their own sites with a little .htaccess magic? I know we've used similar tactics to stop hotlinkers in the past.

yes they can do that, but still many sites loose 70-80% of there visits be cause of this new feature, now Im not sure what site you have, but check your google image visits, even if you dont have images, they are gone then.

I just got a email, that google still show there images that way in asia, its time to take action against this hotlinking and not getting credited with a full page view like before.
