Full article release will be set on details about the googletalk.com domain name, why arbitration should lean on my side. thank you
Huh, what's with the disappointments? It does exactly what it's supposed to do, GUI is far from cluttered, low on resources, good quality audio. Hell, it's even using the Jabber protocol. What more do you want? Skype always was a piece of shit anyway.
google talk is great but it is missing some features such as file transfer. In addition, currently it is available for Windows 2000 and XP. It should try to develop for other operating systems until then we can only use Akeni Enterprise Instant messaging server inside our company LAN.
personally I don't consider that something bad- I kind of like it, actually. smilies tend to frustrate me more often than not since I'm primarily an IRC junkie. I kinda like the idea of plain text for a change. there are however obvious things missing in google talk. I'm almost surprised they didn't deal with some of them before releasing it (simple file sending, multiple users in voice conversations, etc)
*Sigh* Just one more IM service... Why can't some group create a IM standard, and let the open source community have a go at creating a universal scalable decentralized IM system? Oh, plus it'd have to kick the butt outta everything else out there. Plus, I think being having it be able to parse news websites and send me summaries would be nice. Making intelligent investment decisions for me and perhaps making my toast and coffee could be options too! I think everybody needs to ask themselves *why* google needed to make a IM system like every other IM system out there, just more restritive because you need a gmail account for it to be useable(or, is this no longer the case?).
13 Months after Debuting, GoogleTalk has openned up for Everyone to use http://googleblog.blogspot.com/2006/09/now-anyone-can-talk.html
