Well it is entirely possible to use a host header re-direct by using the HTTP GET Headers when you hit their servers to re-direct you regionally based on say your IP range.

We have done things like this for years using NetCloak first, and now PHP. For instance, re-directing competitors customers based on IP ranges to "Specials" pages, or hello acme dialup customer, how bout' making the switch to Mia.Net.

I remember one time a competitor was using our support pages for their customers. What they did was a frames support page that kept their look and feel in the top frame and loaded our support pages in the bottom frame. Lame if you ask me. I simply re-directed these customers to http://mia.net/HTML/services2.html which basically said dear customer your ISP has gone out of business, please sign up with us.

Sick I know.. This is of course several, several years old BTW.. Anyway.. I suppose it is entirely possible Google is doing that.

Of course you could probably spoof your IP to get around this :) There are programs out there for Winbloze that do this.. I noticed in our McCoyPottery.Com logs the other day that one of the referrers coming in from our Froogle Store at http://froogle.google.com/froogle?q=store:mccoypottery was coming in from some "Couples Seeking men" site. There were like 51 requests one day. I figured perhaps this site had some link to McCoyPottery.Com, but there was none. A quick check of our logs revealed it was one IP. Some guy was spoofing his referrer. Messes with those of us that track this crap religously, but the tools are available. Not sure what it is as I do not use Winbloze, but I am sure Google could lead you to it.

Yeah it was pretty weird for me too, the first time I travelled out of the country. :) just click on Go to Google.com as 1234244 said, or set google.com/ncr as your homepage.

It has been that way for a while with the google.ca page. I would say I first noticed it about 6+months ago.
