This article in Forbes has some VP of search marketing at MySolitaire complaining about their rankings.

Today Matt explains what their problem was.

How did this VP of search marketing get the job? And what does the president of search marketing have to say?

This sort of excessive reciprocal links campaigns used to work. Link exchange still works but you have to be very picky who you exchange with.

At the very least you shouldn't complain to Forbes if it all goes wrong. That forbes writer should have done his research a bit better.

It isn't just Forbes - Wired and The Wall Street Journal both had some clueless articles recently regarding SEO.

well pointed articles mad4. Hopefully this rings some bells to those who think excessive link building works. Link building works, but may be its time to follow what matt has to say.
