Google hates affiliates - I've got the proof!

    Hey DP'ers,

So I've been promoting the acai berry for several months now (yes, I was late) and was having some great success going after oprah keywords before her legal team went out and smashed all the bloggers and affiliates out there.

But before that happened, and with another acai site of mine I got smashed by Adwords. Here's the scenario:

After a few days of promotion and with quality scores 10 across the board, I woke up to find that all my quality scores got smashed down to 1 and my ads were no longer showing. I even contacted an adwords specialist to find out but her answers were very vague - "It's because your not showing enough relevant content as compared to others - basically no point in serving me up when hundreds of others are promoting the same thing to which I replied just admit it it's because I'm an affiliate = it wasnt a long convo :)

the exact same thing happened to me overnight with a new domain (I transferred over old site over to a new domain but the content was the same) and I'm wondering if it's because it's the same content on the old site or if it's just because I'm an affiliate promoting acai ..

need to know because if it's the latter I need to stop wasting my time with ADwords... anyone have any insight or similar experiences?

I actually just posted about this too. Although one of my pages was related to health supplements, another site that is apparently blacklisted, was not. In my post I mentioned that the sites that seem to still be up use php redirects instead of straight affiliate links. Just curious, what were you using?

hey there, where was your post must've missed it?

anyways, I was using redirected links through WP plugin "Redirection" so no php your right.. but interestingly enough the old site that got away for so long was using php redirects.. so you may be onto something..

anyone else have any insights or similar experiences?

I just posted this in the other thread he was referring to, but thought I'd repost here as it may help you too.

Here is a blog post and video that may help from a Super Affiliate that really knows Adwords. He has lots more helpful articles on the topic.
Google his site for Google slap.

Google doesn't want affiliate sites advertising on Adwords. They dont say so but its blindingly obvious they hate affiliate sites.

It wouldn't surprise me if they start slapping organic listings next like deindexing every site containing an affiliate link.

    Think they wont do it?

? not sure why people keep saying this, but to the op, my guess is it was a short form cpa offer page that mr g flagged for being low quality not because you were an affiliate

I am just starting an adwords campaign and it dropped after a few days. The whole keyword thing confuses me. I should be getting way more impression as I spent a full day with the google keywords tool.

yeah .. whoever disagrees with what we're saying obviously hasn't had enough experience in aff marketing and adwords since they've never woken up to quality scores dropping across the board from 10's to 1's... meaning the months of effort and profit are gone in a second.. its terrible..

I think some people are getting confused with google does not like affiliates and google does not like some web sites that some affiliates promote.

affiliates = more money for the company.
I personally love it when a new affiliate signs up to my website :)

I dont think they hate affiliates. The scammy ones yes, but if you have lp's that are respectable they have no reason to.

Google don't hate affiliates but they are too smart to judge who is promoting what?
So, if you are promoting a re-bill, they surely hate u :-D

Thank you for the Google attitude to affiliates advice, but what I haven't understood is what advice have you to offer us affiliates (and would be affiliates) in terms of what's next? How can we best respond?
