they should set up their algorithm to be fair, and let things fall as they may

if it is links that are important, that should be it, they shouldn't manually go in and pull wikipedia down just because they want to

wikipedia has got a self-perpetuating links advantage. As a result of having so many (one way) external links, it's own internal links are enough to push it to the top of serps for many keywords.
Which boosts it's reputation as an 'authority' site, so it gets more (one way) external links...etc etc

Ebay results and amazon are much worse then wikipedia.

Don't blame google for wikipedia, how would you feel if google said you site will no longer rank in top 10 for this any term etc.

Google system puts wikipedia top not google...

    Hi Alex,

Your totally correct there and I'm sure everyone agrees. This is a mjor flaw in google algorhythm. I do beleive google can easily change their settings to give less authority to certain websites. I think they should do this to 'Wikipedia', 'Amazon' and 'Ebay', everyone knows who these 3 websites are anyway. Theres no point putting them at the top of every search result.

Come on Matt Cutts, Please sort this out.

    Thanks
    Mark

I don't think it is necessary for Google to be so in love with Wikipedia. Ironically in my college classes, wikipedia isn't allowed as a valid source! Go figure...

Of course it's not a valid source. Anybody can edit in any rubbish they like and it stays there until an editor notices. It's the equivalent of asking a bloke in a bar, to paraphrase someone else.
