I was doing some searches today after reading about link building ideas, and suddenly I saw something I never saw before in a search on Google. They had a notice in the bottom of the search page that they had removed an entry because of copyright infringement... One thing led to another and in the end it got so funny I just had to write a blog post about it http://www.frontpagecontent.com/blog/google/copyright-or-copy-wrong/
I didn't know about this. I had my questions in an other situation, when searching for MySpace layouts I noticed in the bottom of the screen a suggested website on the last row where Google suggested more narrow searches. So I asked why is Google suggesting a website there? Maybe the site was a good AdSense earner? So strange things happen all the time in more situations than one...
This reminds me of when Digg tried to censor a link that contained the HD-DVD decryption code. Users revolted by submitting the code over and over again and digging other submissions that did the same. At one point every story on the front page contained the code. Eventually Kevin Rose gave up and said they would allow it and deal with the legal consequences. You've got to be careful what you complain about or censor on the web, because there are literally millions of people out there willing to spread whatever it is you want to hide.
They have that all the time. It depends on the search you look for. Some topics have alot of sites removed for it.
but with a link to a document that then in turn contains over 300 other links to the violation? That makes this so funny
