For god's sake! Don't you think your taking this a tad too serious? Everyone who has been on this industry long enough has had this happen at least once, but this was done in a particular day, where people tend take a piss our of each other. My final day in this industry will be when it looses it's sense of humour, Thank god for Danny Sullivan.
Hey theres loads of other "funny" things he could of done. But if you want to follow somebody who thinks being hacked is a "joke", thats your choice. I cannot morally follow or trust somebody who believes in that. Pierce
It was a joke for gods sake. Matt doesn't receive any money from blogging, his blog is his own nothing to do with Google and he helps Thousands of webmasters across the world. He can put a hacked notice on his site just like I can do to all my sites. Why not have a laugh? One day, one joke. Get over it!!
Good to see the "joke" is over and both sites are back to normal, each with some sort of explanation to what has been going on. Funny guys.
I agree with pierce hacking should never be considered as a joke, its a pretty serious offense, and if i was darkseoteam i would have sued matt, if i had money too
Yes its free. But if its to help webmasters across the world, including countries that either think Aprils fools is childish or what is aprils fools?, dont you think presenting a "hacked" message on the front page is a bad idea? Has nothing to do with google? Jesus remind me why I used to read it again?! Sure he can put a hacked message and anybody can do it on there website. But would you find it funny if your bank put up an Aprils fools saying "Your money was digitaly hijacked by..."? Surely you can have a laugh about that right? Im sorry if you guys who think im being crabby about it, but I just dont see the joke funny in any way regardless of what day it is. Pierce
Quite frankly I didn't even read Matt Cutts Blog (as often as I probably should) and was pretty surprised at how long this thread really is. I looked at the hacked page and the darkseoteam.com hacked page and it was so clear that it was a prank. Sheesh. . . some people are so naive. I guess that's why scammers make $2 billion a year. Skinny
listen forget about it. To me it was a bad prank, for the rest it was a great laugh, so be it. Pierce
