Google Grey Bar

    Hi everyone,

Anyone got any idea what the grey bar on the PR indicator on the PR toolbar means? Normally I wouldn't really be that bothered with the PR toolbar not showing anything, but all my pages that have this also have no recognised internal or external links (on google webmaster tools). The pages aren't new and are in my sitemap which I submitted - any ideas??

    Thanks

I have seen the Google Grey bar on occasion when Google is doing an update, it only lasts for a few days then returns to normal. Don't stress about it.

When a page receives a gray bar, Google is telling you that something is not liked. Duplicate content is the usual cause.

Now when I use the words "Duplicate Content", I don't mean Copy & Paste content. I mean that the template design being used creates to much "common code" that appears to G as the same as other pages. This happens with shopping carts' detail page all the time. Different products but the HTML is almost exactly the same except for the product info fields.

Or some to the content on the page is copied. Copy the sentense and paste it into the search bar. If any results show up, then you get a Gray Bar.

But if a page does have a gray bar applied, no page rank will be passed to the link pages.

You will also get gray barred, if you cross link between sites on the same IP subnet.

And the gray bar will stay in place until the issue is fixed.

it means your site still has to get the first PR update (in 95% of the cases)
