Domain Aug-07 Jul-07 Aug-06 www.google.com 63.98% 64.35% 59.99% No matter how I read the data on that page, it says google is up 4% from last year as a % of all search and down a third of a % from the previous month.
well, 4% or 7%, i think there is a clear line that google is getting stronger and will continue to get stronger since for most ppl using google as their search engine is like smoking, you cant quit, and as the time goes by, more ppl are getting addicted to it... dont you think?
unlike your post Google isn't going anywhere, they will continue to get stronger and buy up other larger companies ofcourse they're getting larger
The truth of the matter is that google's results are not as good as many meta search engines, but it is an insanely popular choice amongst net surfers because of it's brand. When you leverage all the options across the net as meta engines do, you end up with a much larger sample of results rather than just relying on G to know it all. There is a cost for using meta engines, this cost is speed. WHile google can render results in 0.5 seconds, metas' will drag their feet for 2-3 seconds. But it's worth the delay seeing the quality is better. Side note: I'm EXTREMELY anxious for the release of www.cuill.com (pronounced cool). The founders are ex-engineers & architects from IBM & google. These guys have a robot that is all over the place, don't believe me? Check your logs ... they index about 10X the pages that googlebot does. True an algorithm determines how the pages rank 1-10 but having a much larger index than any other search engine will do wonders for the quality of their results. How can google really know it all if they don't even see 1/2 the pages on the net.
Google wants to be the only search eninge. I think google will buy: Alltheweb. Ask picsearch All of them.
G is only interested in buying technology if it adds features to their current network (blogs, social sites, spreadsheets, etc.). I doubt it would be interested in a straight search engine because I'm sure they feel they have that market under control.
I like Google being no1 as they are not as intrusive like Microsoft. All their interfaces are nice, they help people find what they want, and they help other people make good living off internet.
It does not mean that they are the one leading in SE, we can call them a God. They are not perfect yet. If they are God, they must achieve the 100%.
I checked my logs and I have yet to see one instance of the "coolbot". How is this search engine going to find the pages that Google can't? Google uses links and refferer logs
