Google Gone Too Far?

Seems Google may have gone a bit too far for some. Here in the UK google is driving around and recording all of the streets in the UK so they can appear in Google maps as a a full moving photo/film of your street and house.

'Google has launched the UK version of its Street View service, which allows users to browse a selection of pictures taken along city streets.'

    Google Street View service

Lot's of people are saying enough is enough, they have gone too far.

And even more are saying - it's great fun and useful.
And considering that here in the UK we have more cctv than anywhere else in the free world, it's the last thing anyone with any sense would worry about in terms of privacy. You know who is doing it, what they are doing with it and you can see the results - you can't say that about all the cctv cameras that we're surrounded by.

Exactly, At least Google are transparent in there action and provide it for everybody to use.

There should be more services like this, but in real time.
I often check the local traffic here in Brisbane by using the Government provided traffic cams before heading to the city.

    Cheers
    James

I see nothing wrong with that. As long as Google is transparent with everything.

First satellite monitoring by Google through Google Earth, then going beyond oceans. Now street views.
    What about privacy ?
This is a very good tool for terrorists to plan an coordinated attack.

I can't see any privacy issue here either. Seems like a pretty useful thing as well.

A few people have been busted in compromising positions - walking out of sex shops, brothels, spewing in the gutter, dirty window displays - ie. sexy woman dancing (OK made that one up) .... sex shops, brothels and spewing in the gutter are true .... that's the only issue here .... getting busted .... you can always report images and views to Google for removal.

I saw some titties on google earth. I think it's great! If you don't want a picture of you on the internet walking out of a sex shop with a king dong, then don't go to a sex shop. This technology has been around for years, it's only recently that we've seen it publicly.
