    the trouble is none of those fake pr checkers actually work cos they get their data from the google toolbar - the scammers know this and always redirect potential buyers- oooh look heres a link to fakegoogleprchecker dot arse ... look its confirmed as a pr10 ..... what was that... I dont have any backlinks to my site...oh dont worry about that...you don't need any of those silly backlinks to get a pr10

    I have yet to find a fake pr checker that works - if anyone has then leave a link

    It must be a not valid PR. If you can check a page rank in pagerank.net, then it will show you the status of the PR like whether it is valid or not.

    My favorite PR trick is releasing wordpress themes. Even just 500 downloads of that will get you 500 site-wide dofollow footer links.

    I'm saying "fake PR" could be not fake at all, because there are effective tricks to increase PR in a short amount of time.

    Of course it is very possible to get a reasonable PR quite quickly, many sites go from PR0 to PR3/4 in the space of one update. But to PR10 within 4 months of launching? If you know of "effective tricks" to achieve this without faking, surely you would have done it already and can point to a site?
