Google giving pagerank to sites without backlinks???

I have a website that I bought the domain for $3, and pretty much forgot about, put up a script on it and left it.

Lately I went to it and found it has a pagerank 3. I checked backlinks and found 11 backlinks all with PR0 and most of them from DP on PR0 pages.

I started looking to see if maybe I got it from the domain being forwarded to another domain, and nope, its genuine.

Has anyone else seen this sort of thing happen to them?

Not sure, I just looked at one of mine that use to re-direct to a PR3 and it is showing up as a PR3. Google and Yahoo both show no backlinks on mine, do you think the next PR update will correct it?

This is very weird. I do think it would be corrected in next pagerank update. Maybe the domain used to be a site and had many backlinks and those backlinks expired but Google has not updated yet?

Try checking the backlinks to the domain you forwarded.....

Plus not all links that are scored by a search engine are found when doing a search.

Did you search all forms of the domain?

    http:// www .yourwebsite . com

    http:// yourwebsite. com

    www. yourwebsite. com

    (spaces added to avoid hyperlinking)

Typically unless canonical URL Mod Rewrite or Isaapi Rewrite is invoked server side you will find different link counts for each form of your domain.

    :)

If its not redirected anymore it should, but mine has never been redirected, and its showing up as the correct info on google when doing a info:domain.tld and on all the page rank checkers its showing up as valid PR and genuine.

Mine was never forwarded, when i got it it had like 3 backlinks (all three from DP) and it had PR0 on the domain. I installed a script, forgot about it, and now PR3.

In my opinion internal linking helps gain PR as well. Still getting PR3 with no backlinks is hard these days.
You're either very lucky or there is a glitch in the system.

Yea, PR3 isn't that hard to get, but still lucky for no BL's. Sometimes google is a trip? I do have adsense on it, I wonder if that increases PR at all?

    Last time

Google does not show all the links it scores.....

Now to prove this to yourself go to Yahoo.com and search for links.

$10.00 says Yahoo has a different link count for the domain than Google.

Google DOES NOT SHOW all the links it scores.....

    :D

AdSense has no impact on SERPs, onpage seo, PR, etc.

That happened to one of my websites too. I just left it idly by, and it somehow picked up a PR 3.
    Gets me frustrated :(

You could try building more links and see if it does drop down? IMO you have got a decent backlink from an etablished site and Googles system thinks your site deserves a PR3!

If you have found a glitch in G's system then you better get setting more sites up :)

This is strange, google may be giving more prominence to websites with less backlinks :D

Some of my competitors have few links, like 30 or so, all PR0. And they outrank me in search results + they have a PR3 ?

Don't know why Google think that my competitor deserve a PR 3 :)
